TWO ABBOTS TALK

In 2005 a conference was held at New Norcia Abbey in Western Australia that brought together Abbot Placid Spearnitt (+2008) of the New Norcia Benedictine Community and Abbot Ajahn Brahm of the Bodhinyana Monastery. Their wide-ranging discussion dealt with such themes as

• Is religion an anchronism in the modern world?
• What are the common threads between Buddhism and Christianity?
• What are their intrinsic differences?
• The role of prayer, chant, meditation and contemplation in religious practice.

The entire conference is available on a set of three CDs produced by the Friends of New Norcia. The total running time is three hours and thirty-one minutes. The audio clip given below (07 Track 7.wma) runs about thirty minutes and is of one of the question and answer sessions.
