THE ABHISHIKTANANDA CENTRE
FOR INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE The Abhishiktananda Centre for Interreligious Dialogue was formed in 2008 to promote Swami Abhishiktananda’s vision, and thus his writings, in India, as well as abroad (the latter in English). As a section of a prominent NGO in India, the Delhi Brotherhood Society (DBS), it inherited the copyrights for Swamiji's titles from the former Abhishiktananda Society. These copyrights were for those titles in the Indian languages, as well as the English titles world-wide.Since 1978 until its official closure in 2008, the Abhishiktananda Society had carried out the task of fostering Swami Abhishiktananda’s message through the publication of his books. At the same time, the world rights for languages other than English, had been entrusted to DIM/MID (Dialogue Interreligieux Monastique / Monastic Interreligious Dialogue) - who work predominantly in the West.

The Centre’s Official Website The Centre’s new website (www.abhishiktananda.org.in) was created with the aim of presenting Swamiji’s legacy to the general public. It contains his biography, and highlights the most important events of his life (his early years, his arrival to India, meetings with Sri Ramana Maharshi, embracing sannyasa, profound experiences in the caves of Arunachala, discipleship with Swami Gnanananda Giri, deep interactions with his principal disciple Marc Chaduc/Swami Ajatananda, and his ultimate awakening). It also comprises quotations from his writings revealing the main aspects of his experiences and teachings, substantial excerpts from his publications, a complete bibliography, and other research materials. The Abhishiktananda Archives The Centre also houses the Abhishiktananda Archives, comprising original manuscripts (both handwritten and typed), the digitization of which was completed in 2012 by a team from DIM/MID (Monastic Interreligious Dialogue), consisting of Frère Daniel Pont OSB, and Frère Antoine Desfarges OSB (France), in close cooperation with the Centre’s Director, Swami Atmananda Udasin (access is however restricted to accredited scholars). Interreligious Activities The Centre seeks to organize regular interreligious retreat-seminars focused on the life, message and legacy of Swami Abhishiktananda. During these programmes, participants have a unique opportunity to share their spiritual insights and experiences and so contribute to an authentic dialogue at the level of the heart.
